A plant watering system that reminds you to water your plants through light and balance. Allowing the plant to tell you when it needs water.
The starting point for this project was “Balance” so I designed something towards the balance between nature and humanity at the most basic level of house plants which are often neglected. By the literal translation of a balance scale but also through giving the plant a way to communicate with the human when it needs water, the relationship the plant and human have is more balanced where it is not solely dependent on the human for water without any way to notify them when they need it.
Skills used for this project:
Blender, Arduino, Photoshop
Prototype
Using a soil moisture sensor and depending on how low the soil moisture level is, a servo controls the height difference between the plant and the lamp. When the moisture level is too low, the plant is high up asking for water and the light is red. When you water it, the plant will move down gradually and the light will turn yellow and then eventually white when it’s happy. As the soil gets drier throughout the day, the cycle repeats itself.
